1Another Nollywood actor, Segun Oke, popularly known as Toyobo’s leg if not attended to soon will be amputated. The filmmaker cum actor needs $20, 000 urgently for an operation in India. This follows a relapse of previous surgery he had on his leg when he sustained severe injuries in an auto accident in 2003. Narrating his ordeal, Oke said: “On October 3, 2000, I had an accident that has left me bed-ridden and taken me away from my source of livelihood. My 18-passenger commuter bus had rammed into a trailer at about 7.30pm around Berger Long Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway while attempting an overtake on that fateful day.2                 Nollywood actor Segun Oke before and after

“I was on my way to Ibadan to cover an event for a fuji artist when the incident happened. I woke up in a hospital along with several other passengers to find out that my two legs had been badly affected.

“Unfortunately, the accident happened when doctors were on strike, hence I couldn’t get immediate adequate attention. After three days in the hospital, my legs began to rot and I had to be taken to an unorthodox bone-setter’s, where I spent six months before I was discharged.”

Explaining when he had the first surgery, the filmmaker continued that: “In 2013, I met my managing director, Slot Systems, Nnamdi Ezeigbo, who funded my trip to India for surgery on both legs. One of the legs did not get back in shape even after the operation and I have been managing it since then. Two years after, the legs have started swelling again. I am unable to go out again. For the past three months, I have not been able to continue with my progamme.

“My doctor, Dr Arora of Columbia Asia Hospital, New Delhi, told me in India that it is better for the legs to be amputated and I could be using prosthesis, but the fund was not enough.

“At the moment, the pain is killing and I have decided to accept my fate and have the legs amputated. I am left with only two options: undergo another bone grafting operation urgently or amputate the leg and affix an artificial limb,” he added, as he pleaded for well-meaning Nigerians to come to his aid.” Meanwhile, another Nollywood actor Tunde Alabi’s leg was amputated in General Hospital, Lagos when he could not get help early enough after being diagnosed with acute diabetes.
