A former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, has resigned his appointment as the Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State. Ogunlewe, on Wednesday, said his resignation was with immediate effect.
He said: “I have decided to resign my appointment as Pro-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta with immediate effect.
“I thank the Federal Government for giving me the opportunity to serve. Please, accept the assurances of my best regards.”
The former minister was on Friday arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before an Ogun State High Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, on 18 counts bordering on alleged stealing, abuse of office and fraudulent conversion of the university property.
He was charged to court alongside the FUNAAB Vice Chancellor, Prof Olusola Oyewole, and former Bursar of the institution, Mr Moses Ilesanmi.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the charges levelled against them and were subsequently granted bail by the presiding judge, Justice O.O. Majekodunmi.
The judge admitted Ogunlewe, Oyewole and Ilesanmi to bail in the sum of N50million with two sureties in like sum.
