Newsflashngr-In furtherance of his administration’s commitment to efficiency in the conduct and management of government activities and programmes the Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano today Swore-in Mr. Melie Onyejepu as Special Adviser on Budget, Efficiency and Anambra Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) at the EXCO Chambers, Government House Awka.
With governor Obiano presiding, the the Oath of Allegiance and Official Oath was administered on the new Adviser by the Director of Civil Litigation Anambra State, Mr. Emma Ike, who announced that Section 196(1)4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, empowers the Governor to appoint any person as adviser and went ahead to administer the Oaths to Mr. Onyejepu.
Speaking in a special vote of thanks on behalf of Nnewi Community, Dr. Benson Aghazu, commended Obiano for his recognition of service and excellence and appointing their son.
To buttress his statement, Dr. Aghazu recalled an observation by the governor during a recent visit to his country home when he said, “Nnewi people you look yourselves,” and re-assured Govenor Obiano thus; “As Melie works for you, rest assured that he is working with what is available in terms of manpower, brain power, resources which will make your government prosper for the benefit of the people and of God’s glory.”
The new Special Adviser on Budget/Efficiency Unit/ AIRS, Ogbuefi Melie Ifeanyi Onyejepu is an astute banker and financial expert with over 18 years’ experience which saw him excel in Retail Banking and Product Development, Commercial Banking, Corporate Banking, Banking Management, Loan Recovery, Loan Portfolio Packaging and Management at various capacities in Diamond Bank Plc, First Atlantic Bank Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc where he was Assistant General Manager before joining the Obiano administration as Senior Special Assistant on Budget and Financial Strategy.
Ogbuefi Onyejepu’s efforts in the budget office was instrumental to earning Anambra State an enviable position among the South Eastern States having come first in 2015 IPSAS reporting, implementation and management rating and second among the 36 states of the Federation.
He also holds an MBA (Banking and Finance) from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
The brief but well attended ceremony was witnessed by many prominent sons and daughters of Nnewi led by HRH Igwe Orizu II, former Deputy Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwudi Orizu, Chairman/CEO, Capital Oil, Chief Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, amongst other personalities.
