BREAKING : Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike Sues FCT W0rkers Over Indefinite Strike

Minister of the Federal Capital territory Nyesom Wike has placed his fight with governor Sim Fubara on hold to take on workers as the former governor of Rivers state today sue FCT workers over their indefinite strike action.

The standoff between the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its workers has really heated up after FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, decided to take legal action against the striking FCT employees who are currently in the midst of an indefinite strike.

This strike has thrown a wrench into daily activities across Abuja, as workers are pushing for better welfare conditions and the fulfillment of agreements that were previously made with the government.

According to sources within the FCTA, the choice to go to court came after lengthy negotiations failed to produce any results. The administration sees this ongoing strike as unlawful and detrimental to governance and essential services in the capital.

Insiders reveal that the lawsuit aims to force workers back to their posts while the legal debate over the strike’s legitimacy unfolds.

On the flip side, union leaders argue that the strike is entirely justified, claiming that the FCTA has repeatedly ignored their demands and violated agreements. They assert that workers are merely exercising their constitutional right to protest against unfair labor conditions.

Public sentiment has been quite strong, with residents of Abuja expressing their frustration over the disruption of services, while others stand in solidarity with the workers, arguing that strikes are often the only way to get the authorities’ attention.

Observers note that this situation highlights a familiar pattern in Nigeria’s labor disputes — drawn-out negotiations, public disruption, and ultimately, court involvement. Whether this legal approach will break the deadlock or escalate tensions is still up in the air.

For now, Abuja is on high alert as both sides remain firm in their positions.  Minister of the Federal Capital territory

Should workers be compelled to return to work, or should the government address their demands first?

The North central APC group has warned president Bola Tinubu that if he decides to drop VP Shettima for the 2027 election that will mean end of the road for his political ambition, they also say it will be miscalculation and grave risk

Tensions are already rising as we approach the 2027 general elections. A North Central caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sent a clear message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the future of Vice President Kashim Shettima.

In a statement from the group, party leaders from the North Central region warned that if Shettima is dropped as the running mate, it would be a risky political move—one that could jeopardize Tinubu’s chances for a second term.  Minister of the Federal Capital territory

The group emphasized that Vice President Shettima plays a crucial role in maintaining a delicate political balance within the APC, especially when it comes to managing regional interests and ensuring stability within the party.

They cautioned that removing him from the 2027 ticket would not only alienate important stakeholders but could also spark internal dissent that might cost the APC vital votes.  Minister of the Federal Capital territory

“Any effort to sideline Shettima would be a serious miscalculation and a significant risk,” the statement warned, suggesting that such a decision could mean “the end of the road” for Tinubu’s re-election aspirations.  Minister of the Federal Capital territory

Even though the 2027 elections are still a few years away, this warning sheds light on the early power struggles already taking shape within the ruling party. Analysts point out that it reflects growing concerns over zoning, loyalty, and political alliances as we head into the next election cycle.   Continue reading here
