The question is; what can you do for God?

From what we’ve gathered, this impressive altar will be built on 13 plots of land, making it one of the largest religious altar developments in the area.

In a fantastic show of support, a Zionite family from the United States has generously donated $500,000 (around ₦720 million) to help fund the altar’s construction. This contribution is a significant part of the overall budget and underscores the strong backing the cleric has from both local and international communities.

Insiders close to the ministry have described the altar as a “monument of worship” and a spiritual landmark that’s expected to draw in thousands of worshippers once it’s completed.

The announcement of the ₦1.7 billion altar has ignited a flurry of reactions across social media.

Supporters are cheering for this vision, calling it a bold move to expand God’s work and strengthen faith-based infrastructure in the South-East.  Evang Ebuka Obi

On the flip side, critics are raising eyebrows about the timing and scale of the project, especially given Nigeria’s ongoing economic struggles, soaring inflation, and the hardships many citizens are facing. Some are questioning whether these resources could be better spent on community development initiatives like education, healthcare, or poverty alleviation.

In Nigeria, religious infrastructure projects of this size often spark debate, as faith is a significant part of public life. While churches and ministries keep growing across the nation, conversations about financial transparency, priorities, and social responsibility tend to follow major announcements.  Evang Ebuka Obi

As of now, there haven’t been any official updates on the architectural details or a projected completion date for the altar.

If everything goes according to plan, the ₦1.7 billion altar project in Ngor Okpala could turn into a major religious landmark in Imo State, potentially boosting local economic activity through increased visitor traffic and church-related events.

For the time being, Nigerians are engaged in discussions about what this project means — trying to balance faith-driven development with the realities of the country’s current economic situation.  Evang Ebuka Obi
