Atiku Says Bola Tinubu Made Life Expensive, Promises Affordable Living

Atiku Abubakar said Tinubu has made life expensive for Nigerians since becoming the president.

The former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the rising cost of living in Nigeria, saying his administration has made life expensive for Nigerians.

Atiku made the remarks in a message to Nigerians, where he highlighted the difficulties faced by parents, pensioners and young people struggling to afford food, healthcare, transportation and housing.

The former vice-president said many Nigerian parents now go to bed worried about how to feed their children the following day, while pensioners face difficult choices between buying food and purchasing medicines, because the current president has made life expensive for Nigerians.

Atiku Abubakar also raised concerns about insecurity across the country, saying families live in fear of kidnapping, attacks and uncertainty over the safety of their loved ones.

He said Nigerians should not have to endure hunger and insecurity at the same time, warning that the country could not allow the hardship and fear to become the future inherited by younger generations.

Atiku Urges Nigerians to Collect PVCs, says Tinubu has made life expensive

Atiku Abubakar urged registered voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the cards as a means for citizens to express their choices and demand change through peaceful voting.

“If you are a registered voter, please go and collect your PVC. Hold on to it. It is your voice, your choice and your peaceful power to demand change,” he said.

The former vice-president said Nigerians across different generations should unite to demand a country where families can live with dignity, safety and hope.

Atiku Promises to Make Life Affordable

After raising that Tinubu has made life expensive, Atiku Abubakar pledged to work towards reducing the cost of living if given the opportunity to lead the country, contrasting his proposed approach with the current administration’s economic record.

“Bola made life expensive. I will work to make life affordable again and restore the security every Nigerian deserves,” he said.

Atiku’s message focused on the economic pressures facing households and the need to address insecurity, while encouraging eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council has accused former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of allowing political ambition to undermine his statesmanship following his decision to address President Bola Tinubu as ‘Bola’.

The APC PCC spokesperson and Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, said that Atiku, who is the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, had failed to demonstrate the decorum and respect expected of a former vice-president and an aspirant to the highest office in Nigeria.

Atiku has kept repeatedly addressing the President simply as ‘Bola’ rather than President Tinubu, while describing his administration as a “Yahoo Yahoo” government and accusing it of lying.

He has also insinuated that the President did not attend school.

Reacting to the statement made by Atiku, Alake said the council had urged its party leaders, spokespersons, members and support groups to continue accord Atiku the respect due to him as a former vice-president and presidential candidate, despite the controversy.

He added that the APC campaign would focus on issues affecting Nigerians, Tinubu’s achievements and the administration’s efforts to move the country from reforms to prosperity.

The statement partly read, “We have followed the furore and public reactions to the self-imposed indiscretion and disrespect for the office of the President of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the ADC.

“While a higher standard of decorum, decency and deference to constituted authorities is expected from a former Vice President of Nigeria and an aspirant to the highest office in the country, we are concerned that the ADC presidential candidate has not lived up to those expectations by his unbecoming decision to address the President of Nigeria on a first-name basis as ‘Bola’.” Continue reading here.
