Benue Killings: Rep Fires Back At Adesina – GEJ Not Your Administration’s Problems, Apologize To Jonathan Publicly Now

Federal House of Representative member, Samson Okwu has responded to comments made by Femi Adesina concerning the Benue attacks, and asked the latter to stop blaming former president Goodluck Jonathan

The rep described Adesina’s comment as a ‘statement of failure’ at a time when Nigerians voted the APC to address the nation’s security challenges

Okwu stated that during GEJ’s tenure, the spate of killings were not this bad, and asked Adesina to tender an apology to the people of Benue and the entire nation

The comments made by Femi Adesina, spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari, concerning the Benue killings, have been described as a ‘statement of failure’ by Samson Okwu, a member of the House of Representatives, The Cable reports.

Okwu, who represents the Obi/ Oju federal constituency of Benue in the House, made his comments in a chat with journalists on Thursday, January 11. Femi Adesina had stated on Wednesday, January 10, that 756 people had been killed in herdsmen attacks between 2013 and May 2015 when Goodluck Jonathan was president.

Okwu countered this statement however, as he declared that the spate of killings in the country were not this bad during Jonathan’s administration. Consequently, he asked Adesina to apologize to the people of Benue and the entire nation.

In his words: “I think it is a statement of failure, especially at this time that Nigerians voted for the All Progressive Congress (APC) so that the insecurity would stop. “During Jonathan’s administration, these killings were not spread in the country as witnessed now.

The insecurity was only in some parts of the North-east and North-central; but now there’s Enugu massacre, Edo massacre, Rivers massacre and then Benue.

“I think Mr Femi should apologise to the people of Benue and Nigerians instead of blaming their failure on President Goodluck Jonathan.”
