U.S. President Donald J. Trump has certainly stirred up global attention by stating that Christianity is under serious threat in Nigeria, urging immediate action from the U.S. in light of what he describes as the mass killings of Christians at the hands of radical Islamist groups.

In a heartfelt message posted on his verified social media account, Trump shared his intention to label Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” — a designation that could carry significant diplomatic consequences.
