Fresh Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minority Students -2018-19|Apply Now

Online applications are invited from students belonging to minority communities (Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis & Jains) pursuing studies in Govt, or Private Senior Secondary Schools/Colleges/Universities including residential institutes, Polytechnics, ITI’s, Industrial Training Centers affiliated with NCVT, approved by an competent authority, for awarding scholarships under Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for the session 2018-19 through the National Scholarship Portal of the Government of India, under URL: www.scholarships. gov. in. This scheme is being implemented as 100% Central Sponsored scheme.

Eligibility Criteria/ Conditions for Scholarship

i) Annual income of the parent or guardian of the student should not exceed Rs. 2.00 lacs from all sources.

ii) Scholarship is to be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination.

iii) Scholarship will not be given to more than two students in a family.

iv) A Scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/ stipend for pursuing the same course.

v) The student should be resident of Punjab State and regular in attendance.

vi) Continuation (Renewal) of the scholarship will be paid to those students who secure not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination.

vii) Income certificate should be on self certification basis by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for self-employed parents/guardian and from employer for employed parents/guardian.

ii) Courses other than technical and professional courses at under graduate and post graduate level. Rs. 570/- p.m. Rs. 300/- p.m.

iii) M.Phil and Ph.D (For those researchers who are not awarded any fellowship by university or any other authority) Rs. 1200/- p.m. Rs. 550/- p.m.

Time-Line (for Fresh & Renewal Scholarship):-

Last date for submission of online applications for fresh and for renewal students is 30th September, 2018.

How to Apply

a) The eligible students can apply online on the website scholarships.gov.in. Students will forward their applications online to the Schools/Colleges/institutions and fresh students will take a print out of the same.

This print out along-with all requisite documents (as prescribed in the print out) will be submitted to the concerned institution. Student will get a permanent ID, which he/she will retain/ keep with him/her for any further correspondence etc.

Fresh & Renewal candidates will upload the prescribed scanned documents at the time of apply.

(b) The Schools/Colleges/institutions are advised to register themselves and their courses details on the NSP by 15th August, 2018 so that their students can apply and they can verify such application on the portal without any delay.

Institutes will scrutinize & forward all these applications online by login on the same website with User IDs and Passwords (provided to them earlier by Welfare Department). It is also requested to all institutions that don’t disclose user id and password to anyone.

Note:-

i) The scholarship scheme is an individual beneficiary oriented scheme being implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the whole scholarship is disbursed to the beneficiary under Direct Benifit Transfer (DBT) mode.

In this regard, it is stated that the linkage of beneficiary’s identification with UID/Adhaar No. is presently not mandatory.

However, as the Gazette Notification under Section-7 of Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benifits an Services) Act, 2016 (18 of 2016) (with respect to this scheme) has been notified ( a copy of Gazette Notification-S.0.1284 (E) (No. 1137) dated 21.04.2017.

It will be necessary for the eligible applicants to provide Aadhaar No. while applying for the Scholarship and in case, an individual does not possess Aadhaar one can provide the details of alternative identification documents.

ii) Students/Institutes are advised to read the ” FAQ’s and Information for Institutes” available on the home-page of the website carefully before filling online applications and scrutiny by the institutes.

iii) Institutes will retain online applications hard copies with necessary documents of students at their own level and forward online applications to Welfare Department on National Scholarship Portal.

iv) No manual application will be entertained.
