Nollywood actor mr Ibu adopted daughter Jasmine has opened up on about the painful death of the movie legend, she said Ibu suffered betrayal, neglect and heartbreak from the woman he called his wife.

The tragic death of Nollywood legend John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, continues to spark reactions as his adopted daughter, Jasmine, shares heartbreaking details about his final days.

Most Nigerians knew Jasmine simply as the “adopted daughter” of the late comic actor. But in an emotional revelation, she explained how their bond began and why she stood by him until his last breath.

How Jasmine Became Mr. Ibu’s Daughter

According to Jasmine, her biological father was a soldier and a close friend of Mr. Ibu. After his death, the Nollywood star stepped in, raised her like his own child, and sponsored her education all the way to Cyprus.

“He sent me to school, supported me, and treated me like I was his own blood,” Jasmine recalled.

The WhatsApp Message That Changed Everything

In 2020, Jasmine received a disturbing WhatsApp message that read: “Please, help… Daddy needs you.” Initially dismissing it as a scam, she soon discovered that Mr. Ibu was in Lagos, sick, broke, and abandoned.

“Every day, he begged me for money, and I sent what I could. But when I finally saw him, I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was thin, weak, and broken,” she said.

Jasmine immediately flew back to Nigeria, rushed him to the hospital, and cared for him like her own father.

While receiving treatment, the actor confided in Jasmine about the betrayal and neglect he suffered.

“Jasmine… they want me dead. They don’t care about me. They’re only after my properties,” Mr. Ibu allegedly whispered.
“Even my wife — the woman I called my own — cheated on me. Don’t let her come near me. I never found peace in this world. Not in my marriage, not in my home.”    Nollywood actor mr Ibu

These confessions, Jasmine insists, were his final truth — not rumors.

The Pain Behind the Laughter

“The man who made the whole world laugh died with tears in his heart. He was let down by those closest to him,” she stated.

Jasmine questioned why many who claimed to love Mr. Ibu only surfaced after his death.

“Where were they when he needed help? Why wait until he was gone to pretend?” she asked.
