BREAKING: Rivers Assembly Back with Their Drama — Starts Another 2026 Impeachment Process Against Governor Sim Fubara

Rivers Assembly is back with their usually drama to impeach the people’s governor, a move we believe is coming from their master minister Nyesom Wike the current minister of FCT who long left his job in Abuja, return to Rivers politics to make sure Sim is voted out.

Political tension is once again on the rise in Rivers State, as the State House of Assembly has reportedly kicked off impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This marks yet another dramatic twist in the ongoing power struggle within the state.

Residents and political watchers are growing increasingly concerned, pointing out that Rivers politics seems to be stuck in a cycle of leadership crises, loyalty conflicts, and distractions from governance.

Just when things seemed to calm down for a moment, the Rivers State Assembly has plunged back into what many citizens are now calling “one week, one drama” governance. Lawmakers are said to be acting on orders from a powerful political figure who appears intent on undermining Governor Fubara’s administration.

Insiders suggest that the push for impeachment isn’t really about any constitutional violations. Instead, it seems to be part of a larger strategy to stall governance, create instability, and hinder any real political or developmental progress under the current governor.

Since taking office, Governor Fubara has been under constant political pressure, with his leadership often overshadowed by internal party conflicts and power struggles. Analysts point out that rather than concentrating on infrastructure, security, and economic growth, Rivers State remains mired in elite political battles.    Rivers Assembly

Many residents are worried that the threat of impeachment could further stall governance, delay important projects, and erode public trust in the state’s democratic institutions.    Rivers Assembly

While the Assembly has the constitutional right to impeach a sitting governor, critics point out that the constant threats and repeated attempts raise serious concerns about the motives behind them and their legitimacy.

“This feels less like accountability and more like political intimidation,” a Port Harcourt-based analyst shared with NewsFlashNGR. “People are fed up with the endless crises while their everyday needs are being overlooked.”

This isn’t the first time impeachment threats have emerged in Rivers State; past attempts have crumbled under legal disputes, public backlash, and political maneuvering. Whether this latest effort will be successful is still up in the air, but one thing is certain: Rivers State is once again on high alert.    Rivers Assembly

As the situation develops, citizens, civil society organizations, and national political figures are keeping a close eye to see if reason will win out or if the state will plunge further into chaos.    Rivers Assembly

The withdrawals from the account of the state government were made in the last three years.

A top official of the commission, who confided in The PUNCH on Sunday, said the “curious”withdrawals violated the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act.

He stated, “In all, we are investigating cash withdrawals totaling N117bn from the Rivers State accounts in the last three years. The manner the money was withdrawn was suspicious.”

The EFCC source, who cited some of the withdrawals, which he said were curious, said 45 different cheques were issued in the name of one person on June 8, 2015.

According to him, a total of N450m were withdrawn from the state government account in the Zenith Bank that day.

He also gave an example of total withdrawal of N500m on June 9, 2015 through 50 different cheques.

The commission was on the trail of four different suspects over the suspicious withdrawals from the Zenith Bank by the Rivers State Government.

It was gathered that the EFCC would this week invite the Director of Finance and Administration in the Rivers State Government House, Similari Fubura, for interrogation over the withdrawals.  Continue reading here
