Veedeebee has blåsted Yoruba Nollywood Stars and actresses who are campaigning for President Bola Tinubu.
The critic accused the entertainers of defending Tinubu despite what Veedeebee described as his failures in office in the last three years.
A Nigerian social commentator identified as Veedeebee has criticised Yoruba Nollywood stars over their support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a video addressing the entertainers, Veedeebee accused them of repeatedly campaigning for Tinubu while allegedly attempting to convince Nigerians that the country was doing well under his administration.
The commentator also questioned why some entertainers seek financial assistance from Nigerians to travel abroad for medical treatment despite their public support for the president.
The remarks have brought renewed attention to the debate surrounding Yoruba Nollywood stars, Tinubu and the 2027 election.
Veedeebee attacks Yoruba Nollywood stars over Tinubu
In the video, Veedeebee made it clear that the criticism was directed specifically at Yoruba-language movie actors and actresses who have supported Tinubu.
“This video is directed at Yoruba Nollywood, specifically the actors and actresses who make Yoruba movies,” the commentator said.
Veedeebee warned that the message would be harsh before accusing the entertainers of being ignorant about the country’s political situation.
“You guys are drinking something that is messing with your brains. You’re the most ignorant bunch I have ever seen,” the commentator added.
Veedeebee also accused the actors of continuing to support Tinubu despite what the commentator described as repeated failures by the president.
“You have campaigned for Tinubu time and time again, and he has shown you that he’s a constant failure and a disgrace,” Veedeebee said.
The comments were directed at entertainers perceived to be supporting the president, although the video details provided do not identify individual actors accused of the conduct.
Yoruba actors’ support for Tinubu’s re-election questioned
The criticism comes amid preparations and political positioning ahead of Nigeria’s next presidential election, scheduled for 2027.
Celebrity endorsements can help political candidates reach audiences beyond traditional political platforms. Actors with large fan bases can use their popularity, public appearances and social media accounts to promote candidates and influence political conversations.
However, such endorsements can also attract criticism when supporters of a politician believe that public figures are defending an administration without adequately addressing concerns about its performance.
Veedeebee questions Nollywood stars actors seeking medical assistance abroad
One of the strongest parts of the criticism concerned entertainers who allegedly appeal to Nigerians for financial support when they experience serious health problems.
Veedeebee argued that it was contradictory for actors to promote the president while later asking members of the public to help them obtain medical treatment abroad.
“But the moment you have a little health problem, you start begging Nigerians online for financial support to travel abroad for treatment,” the commentator said.
