Social media activist VeryDarkMan has sparked political debate after describing President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s greatest politician of all time, citing his political strategy and ability to capitalise on opportunities rather than his policies or the state of the economy.
VeryDarkMan made the remarks in a trending video while comparing Tinubu’s political approach with that of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and other opposition figures.
In the video, the activist argued that Obi and other opposition politicians lacked the political audacity demonstrated by Tinubu, particularly in their response to the detention of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai.
“Peter Obi and others don’t have the balls Tinubu has. President Tinubu is the greatest politician of all time in this country, not because of his policies or the economy, but because of how he plays the game of politics,” VeryDarkMan said.
He explained that Tinubu’s political strength, in his view, lies in his ability to recognise even seemingly insignificant developments and turn them into opportunities to advance his political interests.
“He knows how to capitalise on even the smallest opportunities and situations,” the activist added.

VeryDarkMan further argued that Tinubu would have approached the situation differently if he were in the opposition, suggesting that the president would have used El-Rufai’s detention to mobilise support and put political pressure on his opponents.
According to the activist, Tinubu would have organised rallies and mobilised youths in Northern Nigeria to turn the development into a major political campaign.
“One of the reasons Peter Obi and others don’t have Tinubu’s political audacity is that, by now, Tinubu would have mobilised Northern youths, organised rallies and capitalised on El-Rufai’s detention to strategically campaign against his opponents and put them under serious political pressure,” he said.
The activist contrasted the hypothetical approach with what he described as the opposition’s limited response to El-Rufai’s situation.
“But what have Peter Obi and others done? All they have done is tweet about El-Rufai, while betraying and abandoning him in detention,” VeryDarkMan stated.

Meanwhile, Nigerian singer Rudeboy, formerly one half of the defunct music duo P-Square, has spoken about the pressure he faces over his lifestyle, revealing that people judge him over his choice of clothes, cars and even where he buys food.
The singer made this known in a statement that has sparked reactions on social media, with some users supporting his position while others questioned his response to public criticism.
Rudeboy explained that his public image makes it difficult for him to carry out some everyday activities without worrying about how people might interpret his actions.
“I can’t buy food from roadside sellers; they’ll say I’m going broke,” he said.
The singer also spoke about the criticism he could face for wearing the same outfit on different occasions, explaining that even his clothing choices could become a subject of public discussion.
“I can wear a cloth to an interview and mistakenly wear it again to perform, and they’ll say I’m repeating clothes,” Rudeboy stated.
He further complained about expectations surrounding his vehicles, saying that people could question his financial status if he continued driving the same car for a month. Continue reading here
