Anambra State Governor Soludo Set t0 Deduct Workers Salaries over Nnamdi Kanu Monday Sit-at-Home

Governor Soludo is prepared to start deducting workers salaries of those who will continue to obey the IPOB every monday sit-at-home for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, says is his way of returning the state back to productive.

The Anambra State Government, led by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, is gearing up to implement pro-rata salary deductions for public servants who participate in the weekly Monday sit-at-home, a movement associated with the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Sources from within the state government indicate that this policy is aimed at workers who don’t show up for work on Mondays due to the sit-at-home order, which was initially put in place to show support for the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Officials explain that this move is part of a larger strategy by the Soludo administration to kickstart economic activity, enhance the efficiency of public services, and bring Anambra back to what they call its “productive era.”

For years now, the Monday shutdown has disrupted schools, markets, banks, transport services, and government offices throughout the state, resulting in significant economic losses and a drop in internally generated revenue.

The government contends that while security issues are indeed serious, the ongoing paralysis of the state is not a viable option and needs to be tackled with decisive administrative actions.  Governor Soludo

The proposed salary deductions have ignited strong reactions from both workers and residents. Many believe that public servants aren’t intentionally ignoring government orders; rather, they’re acting out of genuine fear for their safety.  Governor Soludo

There have been previous incidents involving violence, threats, and attacks related to the enforcement of sit-at-home orders, which has made many workers hesitant to return to their normal routines, even with official reassurances.

Critics argue that penalizing workers financially without first ensuring their safety could only fuel resentment and heighten tensions in the state.  Governor Soludo

This situation once again highlights the challenging balance between economic recovery and the harsh security realities in Nigeria’s South-East. While the government is pushing for a return to normalcy, many citizens feel caught between following government directives and the fear instilled by non-state actors enforcing compliance.

As this policy approaches, all eyes are on how workers in Anambra will react — will it lead to a boost in productivity or further escalate tensions?

Should workers really be punished for staying home out of fear? Or is this a necessary tough decision for Anambra to move forward?

Meanwhile; Veteran nurse Regina Okeke who served as one of the chief nurses during the Nigerian/Biafran war is gone, she died at age of 88 years old and we must not forget without talking about the major impact she played in saving lives

Nigeria has lost one of its true unsung heroes.

Regina Okeke, a veteran nurse who served as a Chief Nurse during the Biafra War, has passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 88. Her departure signifies the closing of yet another chapter in Nigeria’s painful yet significant history.  Governor Soludo

Mrs. Okeke was among the brave medical workers on the front lines during the civil war, a time filled with hunger, fear, and scarce medical supplies. Nurses like her operated under immense pressure, often having to improvise treatments, ration medications, and put their own lives on the line every single day to save others.  Governor Soludo

In an era when hospitals were targeted and safety was a luxury, Regina Okeke chose to prioritize her duty over her fears. Her contributions extended far beyond medicine — she embodied strength, hope, and humanity in a time that was anything but humane.

Regrettably, like many who served during the war, her sacrifices often went unnoticed. There were no national accolades, no viral tributes — just a quiet commitment and even quieter acknowledgment.   Continue reading here
