Benue Miyetti Allah Chairman k!lled After Peace Meeting 0ver Insecurity in The State

Benue Miyetti Allah chairman k!lled after peace meeting – he drove into Otukpo believing dialogue could save lives, but the bush had other plans. This one pain me.

Look, I don’t even know how to start this story without feeling sick. You sit with your community, you talk with the police, you try to find a way so our people can stop killing each other.

Then you get back in your car and someone puts a bvllet in you. That’s what happened to Ardo Risku Muhammad. Benue Miyetti Allah chairman that was killed after peace talk just like that.

He was the chairman for MACBAN in Benue. A leader. On Friday, he went to a meeting in Ohimini. The police called it; A peace and security meeting. He and his friend, Yakubu Isah, they sat there and talked. They tried to fix things. After, they got on the road back to their homes in Otukpo. Around 2 pm, near Okudu, armed youths jumped out. They shot. Both men died right there in the car. No warning. No chance.

His son, Idris, told correspondent “We just got the bodies. We took them to Oyangede for burial,” he said. Imagine that. Your father leaves to talk about stopping the blo0dshed and comes home in a body bag.

The tension was heavy. The kind that makes everyone in the room go quiet without anybody saying anything. The chairman of Otukpo, Maxwell Ogiri, told newsmen the area is “tense.” But he’s begging people to stay calm. The police, he says, are “on top of it.” But are they? The chairman from Ohimini, Gabriel Adole, said the meeting was actually successful. “He was part of a good talk,” Adole said, his words heavy with frustration. “Then this happened.”

The state police spokesman, DSP Udeme Edet, confirmed it. Investigation has started. They’ll find the k!llers, they say. But what does that even mean right now? After everything? The fear isn’t just about one k!lling. It’s about what comes next. This feels like a match thrown on dry grass.  Benue Miyetti Allah Chairman

We’ve seen this story before in Benue. The fights, the laws, the de@ths. The Benue Miyetti Allah chairman k!lled wasn’t just some random person. He was one of the few people actually trying to talk to both sides. He walked that impossible line fighting for his herders’ lives while begging them not to fight. He knew the farmers were scared. He knew his own people were angry. And now he’s gone. Who talks now? Who sits in those rooms?

This k!lling screams one thing: someone didn’t want peace. They wanted to stop it dead. Maybe it’s cr!minals. Maybe it’s people who profit from the chaos. Maybe it’s pure hate. But the message is clear. Try to build bridges, and we will break you.

The police must act. Not just “investigate,” but act. The community leaders must hold the line. But my people, we also have to ask ourselves hard questions.  Benue Miyetti Allah Chairman

Are we going to let this spiral? Or will we mourn Ardo by actually listening to each other? His de@th should be the last time a peace meeting is followed by an ambush. But I’m not hopeful. Not today.  Benue Miyetti Allah Chairman

This isn’t just news about a chairman. It’s about a broken process. It’s about a state that can’t catch a break. It’s about a family burying a father who was trying to do the right thing.
