Reports from U.S. authorities and local news outlets indicate that the incident unfolded around 4:25 a.m. on Saturday at Quilox Restaurant and Lounge, situated in East Flatbush on Church Avenue near 95th Street.

Sheriff had gone to the nightclub with his younger brother, Fawaz, to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The family shared that this outing was particularly special, as it took place just a day before their mother was set to arrive from Nigeria for a visit.

Things took a turn when a visibly drunk man began inappropriately touching women in the club, including Sheriff’s girlfriend. This led to a confrontation and a brief scuffle between Sheriff and the man.

Feeling uneasy about the situation, the Shittu brothers decided to leave the club about 45 minutes after they arrived. However, they soon realized that Sheriff had forgotten his cell phone and went back to retrieve it.  30 year old Nigerian fashion

When they returned, they found the suspect being escorted out of the club. Fawaz mentioned that the club owner was trying to diffuse the situation and encouraged them to stay.  30 year old Nigerian fashion

“I heard a ‘pow,’ and when I looked down, I saw my brother,” Fawaz recalled.

After the shooting, a bartender reportedly tried to perform CPR while emergency responders rushed Sheriff to Brookdale University Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Family members revealed that even after he was declared deceased, they kept him on life support, holding onto hope for a miracle.

“He was such a sweet person, very outgoing,” said another brother, Salem Shittu. “He was always protective of his family, friends, and loved ones.”  30 year old Nigerian fashion
