Babatunde Raji Fashola the current minister of Power, Works and Housing, two day ago flagged-off the 112km dilapidated Jada town road, which leads to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s hometown, at the cost of N22.7bn.

While speaking at the occasion, the minister said the contract is in line with the present administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructural deficit in the country.

The minister, who was represented by the minister of state, Alhaji Mustafa Baba Shehuri, said the project is aimed at providing the much-needed impetus to stimulate economic growth and the ease of doing business with neighbouring Cameroon Republic and other states.

“The road serves as a vital link between Taraba State and Cameroun, as well as Mambila Hydro Power plant and other agricultural communities,” he said.

He stated that the road has outlived its service life and is characterised with several failed sections, multiple cracks, depression and washouts at the edges at different sections of the existing alignment.

The minister, who said the contract would last for 36 months, directed the contractor-Traicta Nigeria Limited to commence work immediately and warned the firm against poor job.

In his address, chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Media, Alhaji Abdulrazak Namdas, representing Atiku’s constituency, said the votes in his area are intact for President Buhari.

He said with the award of the project, the people of his constituency have no alternative presidential candidate than Buhari.

Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, appealed to the Federal Government to also consider other federal roads in the state, which are in bad condition for reconstruction.
