Obidient Movement is bigger than the NDC and does not need Seriake Dickson’s permission — Omotayo Williams fires back in a statement shaking Nigerian politics.
Nobody told Omotayo Williams to sit down and he is not sitting down.
He dropped a statement that has been flying around Nigerian political circles since it landed and the reason it is flying is because he did not come to whisper. He came to say things. Real things. About the Labour Party, the NDC, Seriake Dickson and Julius Abure. He put all of them in one basket and shook the basket hard.
First thing he said — the Obidient Movement is bigger than the NDC. Not as an argument. Not like a man building an argument and waiting for pushback. Like a man stating something he settled in his own mind a long time ago. Then he moved straight to the Kwankwasiya Movement without stopping to see if anyone was following him. Bigger than the NDC.
And his conclusion from putting those two things together was not complicated. Take both movements out of the NDC picture and what you are left with is a empty bus parked on the side of the road with no driver, no passengers and nowhere to go.
Then he went for the Labour Party.

Dead and buried. His words not ours. Not limping. Not in crisis. Dead and buried. This is the same party that the Obidient Movement carried on its back through a presidential campaign that genuinely shook this country — 25 states, over six million votes, according to INEC’s own figures.

And now Williams is saying that chapter is closed and the pages are turning to dust. Julius Abure got his own sentence too. Williams said the man is somewhere licking his wounds right now. No softening. No sorry about that. Just the image and nothing else sitting next to it.
But if you want the line that is going to live in people’s heads from this statement, it is the Dickson part.
Williams said it flat. The Obidient Movement does not need Seriake Dickson’s permission to campaign for Peter Obi. Does not need his money. Does not need a single thing from him. The people who show up for Peter Obi show up because something in them decided to.
Because this country means something to them that cannot be bought or scheduled or organized by someone handing out envelopes. And then Williams used a word that was very deliberately chosen. He said Dickson should be cautioned.
Cautioned is not the word of a man who is mildly uncomfortable. That is the word of someone drawing a hard line and making sure the person on the receiving end of it feels exactly where that line is.
And if you have been paying attention to what has been brewing underneath the surface of Nigerian opposition politics, you already understand why that word showed up in that sentence.
There is a real frustration inside the Obidient Movement that has been sitting there for a while without the right moment to come out. A frustration with people who discovered Peter Obi recently and conveniently.
Who were not in the trenches in 2022 when supporters were funding their own travel, running their own campaigns, fighting their own battles on social media at odd hours with no budget and no backing. Who were not part of the sacrifice and are now very much part of the positioning.
The Obidient Movement was not built the way Nigerian political structures are usually built. There was no godfather writing checks. No party machinery forcing people into line. It ran on genuine belief and the kind of energy that you cannot manufacture or purchase no matter how connected you are. Obidient Movement
People chose it. Freely. Repeatedly. Through the moments when walking away would have made complete sense and nobody would have blamed them for it. Obidient Movement
Williams is saying that story has owners. And the owners are not the people showing up now with their connections and their chequebooks looking for a seat at a table they never helped build.
You might take issue with how blunt he was about all of it. That is fair. But the thing he is describing underneath the bluntness is not new and it is not small. It has been real for a long time and it was always going to find its way out into the open.
