Saudi Arabia executes 2 Bangladeshis natioanls after a court ruling over an alleged act inside a Mecca mosque, while Dhaka seeks official acknowledgement.
Saudi Arabia has executed two Bangladeshi nationals after a court convicted them of what authorities described as an “immoral act” committed inside a mosque in Mecca. Bangladesh’s consulate in Jeddah, however, says nobody told it anything before the executions were carried out, and it has now written to Saudi authorities asking for formal acknowledgement.
Reports named the two as Nazerul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior said they were executed in the Mecca region on October 14, 2026, after being arrested, investigated, and dragged before a competent court — which then sentenced them to de@th under ta’zir, a form of discretionary punishment in Islamic law. The ruling was upheld, and a royal order later authorised that it be carried out.
The case has drawn plenty of attention, especially after reports circulating in Bangladesh claimed the alleged act was actually a kiss on the forehead. Those accounts described the two as newlyweds who had travelled to Mecca for their honeymoon, with the gesture said to be an expression of gratitude to Allah.

That said, Saudi authorities have never publicly stated what the alleged act actually involved, and nothing in the official statement confirms the forehead kiss claim or that the two were even married to each other. For now, those details remain unverified reports rather than established facts. Saudi Arabia executes
The executions have also stirred questions back in Bangladesh over why the consulate was left in the dark. The Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah told The Daily Star it received no advance notice from Saudi authorities, and that it has since submitted a formal diplomatic note requesting official acknowledgement of the executions.
On its part, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior said the court weighed the seriousness of the offence and the violation of the sanctity of both the place and the time when handing down the sentences. The ministry also restated the kingdom’s commitment to enforcing its laws against anything it considers a v!olation of the sanctity of mosques. Saudi Arabia executes
The case has since sparked public debate about how severe the punishment was and how little information has actually been released about the alleged offence. As of the time of those reports, Saudi authorities had offered no further details on the specific conduct involved or the circumstances surrounding the arrests.
Meanwhile; Ecuadorian priest d!es after a large crucifix falls on him during a livestreamed Mass in Guayaquil. The Archdiocese has confirmed his de@th. Saudi Arabia executes
A Catholic priest in Ecuador is de@d, and the way it happened is the kind of thing that’s genuinely hard to process. Father Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari was right there, in the middle of Mass at a church in Guayaquil, when a massive wooden crucifix broke loose from behind the altar and fell on him. It happened on Saturday, October 17, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, the very parish he’d served as priest. And here’s the part that makes it sting even more. The whole service was being streamed live at that exact moment.
About 27 minutes into the broadcast, that large cross, the one with the statue of Jesus Christ mounted behind the altar, just gave way out of nowhere. He was leading the congregation in prayer one second, and the next, the whole structure came crashing down on him. The service just stopped. Completely. Saudi Arabia executes
All of it got captured on the livestream. You can actually hear the panic in people’s voices the second it happened, the scramble as they rushed toward the altar to help him. That clip has since traveled all over social media, and honestly, it’s the kind of footage that sits heavy with you after you’ve watched it once. Continue reading here
