Anambra Governor set to build another Airport at Ndikelionwu less than 4 years Willie Obiano administration launched the Aguleri airport

The Anambra State Government has just unveiled plans for a new airport in Ndikelionwu, located in the Orumba North Local Government Area. This comes less than four years after the opening of the Chinua Achebe International Cargo and Passenger Airport in Umueri.

A New Mega Project for Anambra

Governor Charles Soludo’s administration has shared that this new airport will work alongside the existing Umueri facility, enhancing connectivity, trade, and tourism throughout the state. Officials say this initiative is part of a broader vision to transform Anambra into a key economic hub in the South-East.

Why Another Airport?

While some critics are raising eyebrows about the necessity of a second airport so soon after Umueri’s launch, insiders in the government believe that Ndikelionwu’s prime location will greatly benefit communities in Orumba, Aguata, and surrounding areas, who currently have to travel long distances to reach Umueri.

The new airport is set to: – Give a boost to local businesses and agriculture by offering faster export routes.
– Create job opportunities during both the construction phase and after it opens. – Draw in investors and enhance regional transportation.

While officials haven’t revealed the exact budget or timeline for completion, the project has certainly stirred up excitement and debate among the residents of Anambra.
