A whistleblower who goes by Hassan has come out with allegations serious enough to rattle political circles from Bauchi to Abuja. He claims that before the bloodshed that tore through parts of Benue State, he was inside the private residence of Senator Shehu Buba — and that what he saw there was not a ordinary gathering.
He says he watched *rmed men receive heavy packages on the senator’s property, and that a notorious regional figure named Dogo Gide was present and deeply connected to what was going down.
The part of this story that people cannot seem to get past is how Hassan says he got the evidence in the first place. He did not have much time. He hid his phone on his body, slipped away into a restroom on the compound, and recorded what he could — video and audio — before anyone noticed he was missing.
He said he watched the delivery happen. He said he saw who was there. And then, according to him, he was caught.

The moment he was discovered with the device, Hassan says the mood shifted instantly. He claims an order was passed to one of the *rmed men on the property to deal with him right there and then. He ran. Into the night, with the memory card carrying everything he had recorded, and did not stop until he was far enough away to breathe.
What piled on top of an already explosive claim is what allegedly came next. Hassan says the same Senator Shehu Buba he is accusing of hosting that meeting was later included in an official delegation dispatched by President Bola Tinubu to visit the Benue communities that had been hit by the viol*nce.
He said it without flinching. The same man. Sent to console the people he allegedly played a role in hurting.

Senator Shehu Buba has denied every single word of it. His version of events is a different story entirely. He says Hassan made it all up — that the young man was given access to his home out of genuine kindness and then turned around and used that access to quietly film people who had nothing to hide, before constructing a story around the footage that has no basis in reality.
Shehu Buba says he has already taken the matter to the Inspector-General of Police in writing. Four suspects connected to the situation have since been picked up by security operatives, while Hassan — the man at the centre of all of this — reportedly slipped across the border into Niger Republic. Human rights organisations and community leaders are pushing hard for what is inside it to be examined openly and transparently — not buried in a process that answers to the same political interests being named in the allegations. Security agencies say they are looking into it. Political watchers say that if even a fraction of what Hassan is claiming can be verified, the fallout will not stay local for long.
