Just In: Former Delta Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan Dies, Family Ann0unces

Emmanuel Uduaghan dies, according to a family statement reported on Monday. The former Delta governor served from 2007 to 2015.

Word has started going round that former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, is dead. His family put out a statement on Monday morning, October 19, 2026, breaking the news themselves.

The statement, signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan, was titled “Announcement of the Passing of His Excellency, Dr Chief Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON.” Beyond expressing how heartbroken the family is, it didn’t say much else — nothing on what actually led to his death.

For those who may not know, Uduaghan isn’t just any name in Delta politics. He ran the state as governor between 2007 and 2015, and long before that, he was known as a medical doctor. After leaving the government house, he didn’t fully exit public life either — he went on to represent Delta South in the Senate. All in all, he’s someone who spent years being a familiar face in the state’s political circles.

Now that this news is spreading, it’s only expected that tributes will start pouring in — from fellow politicians, people who worked with him over the years, and everyday Deltans who followed his time in office, whether up close or from afar.  Emmanuel Uduaghan dies

As of now though, there’s no word on what caused his death, and nothing has been said about burial plans either. Those details simply aren’t out yet.  Emmanuel Uduaghan dies

This also isn’t the first time such a story has come up. Back in June, a similar rumour made the rounds online claiming he had died, but the Delta State Government quickly waved it off, saying his daughter had personally confirmed he was alive and well at the time.
