Tinubu Begs Akwa Ibom Residents to Collect PVCs Ahead of 2027 Election

President Bola Tinubu has declared confidence in winning a second term as he announced plans to spend the night in Akwa Ibom State.

The President described his planned overnight stay as a “second term presidential sleep” and said he would dream of electoral victory.

His declaration came amid criticism from Peter Obi over his travels across Nigeria as political activities ahead of the 2027 election gather momentum.

President Bola Tinubu has made a bold declaration about his re-election ambition, telling supporters in Akwa Ibom State that he expects to secure another term in office in 2027.

The President made the statement on Friday, November 6, during a reception and political rally organised in his honour at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Tinubu speaks about his second-term ambition

Addressing the crowd, Tinubu expressed appreciation to the people of Akwa Ibom for their support and said he would spend the night in the state.

He used the occasion to make a remark about his political future, suggesting that his visit was connected to his confidence in winning the next presidential election.

“I will sleep in Akwa Ibom tonight. It’s going to be a second term presidential sleep. I will dream of victory too.”

The President also urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing the cards as an important instrument for determining the country’s political future.

He appealed to residents who had yet to collect their PVCs to do so before the 2027 general election.

Tinubu said:

“The weapon you have is the PVC. If you have not collected it, please go ahead and collect your PVC. I am begging you, for the sake of your future.”

President highlights promises to Nigerians

Beyond his re-election message, Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving living conditions and expanding development opportunities.

He mentioned infrastructure, education, skills acquisition and employment among the areas his government had promised to address.

The President also spoke about plans to establish more economic opportunities, saying his administration would plant what he described as economic trees.

He maintained that the promises he made to Nigerians included a better future, improved education and job creation.

Tinubu’s statement comes amid Peter Obi’s criticism

Tinubu’s comments also come against the backdrop of criticism from Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Obi had questioned the President’s movements across the country, suggesting that Tinubu had not spent the night in any state outside Abuja and Lagos.

The former Anambra governor’s comments appeared to challenge the President’s physical presence in other parts of Nigeria.

Tinubu’s announcement in Uyo therefore comes at a time when political conversations surrounding the 2027 presidential election are gradually gaining attention.

Meanwhile, Vice-President Kashim Shettima has launched another attack on Peter Obi, claiming the opposition politician has damaged his chances of winning the 2027 presidential election.

Shettima accused the former Anambra governor of relying on lies and questionable statistics, saying he had also lost the goodwill of Nigerians.

The Vice-President made the remarks at President Bola Tinubu’s campaign rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday, November 6, 2026.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has taken another swipe at Peter Obi, declaring that the former Anambra State governor has damaged his chances of winning the 2027 presidential election through what he described as lies and bogus statistics.

Shettima made the statement on Friday, November 6, during President Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where he also questioned Obi’s popularity among Nigerians.

According to Shettima, Obi had lost the goodwill he previously enjoyed among Nigerians because of his political statements and the figures he frequently uses to criticise the government.

The Vice-President also made a remark about Obi’s recent absence from the country, claiming that the opposition politician had travelled abroad to rest before returning to Nigeria. Continue reading here.
