Taiwo Hassan Cancer: Here’s What Happened t0 the Nollywood Legend

Taiwo Hassan is battling stage 4 cancer. His daughters, Kira and Lima, are begging for medical help after hospitals allegedly refused to continue treatment.

Nobody was ready for this news. Taiwo Hassan — the man millions across Nigeria grew up knowing simply as Ogogo — is battling stage 4 cancer, and things are not looking good right now.

There was no official announcement, no carefully worded statement from a publicist. What happened instead was far more raw. On Monday night, his daughters, Kira and Lima, got on Instagram and just let it all out. The videos spread fast, and if you watched them, you already know why.

These are not two girls performing for the camera. You hear it right away — these daughters are scared they’re about to lose their father. It bleeds into every word. The pain has gone way past the diagnosis itself.

The family claims hospitals have stopped his chemotherapy altogether. Not delayed it, stopped it. Doctors say there’s simply nothing more they can do.  Taiwo Hassan

For a man still battling to stay alive, that kind of resignation from medical professionals is almost impossible to accept.

Kira’s video was the one that really broke people. Her voice kept cracking as she spoke. No script, no pretending to be strong for the camera — just a frightened daughter pouring out what the family had been suffering in private.

“I’m here for my daddy. He has cancer, and he’s in stage 4. The hospital is saying that they cannot treat him again; they can’t give him chemo again,” she said.

Then came the line that stopped people mid-scroll: “He is saying that he doesn’t want to die. Please, I’ve never seen my daddy in that kind of pain before.”

Lima also posted her own video, and the message was the same — grief, urgency, and a family blindsided by how quickly everything unraveled. She revealed that they only found out how serious the situation truly was about three weeks ago. And honestly, that part is not hard to believe.

Anyone who has followed Ogogo over the years knows the kind of man he is — quietly strong, never one to let the world see him struggle. He carried this alone for as long as he could.

Why the Family Is Rejecting Financial Donations

Whenever a Nollywood veteran falls ill, the immediate assumption is that the family needs money. The daughters are aggressively shutting that narrative down.

Both of them were crystal clear — they are not soliciting public funds. Kira revealed that Senator Adeola Yayi has already stepped in and is currently footing all the medical bills. Money is not the issue right now; finding a willing doctor is.

This public appeal is strictly directed at medical specialists, oncologists, or even traditional herbal practitioners who have the expertise to take on a complex stage 4 cancer case. They just want someone, anywhere, to step up and give the actor a fighting chance.

This is not the first time the Yoruba cinema legend has faced a massive health scare. A few years ago, Taiwo Hassan fought a brutal, seven-year battle with a severe illness tied to chronic ulcers.  Taiwo Hassan

During that dark period, he lost a massive amount of weight, vomited blood for months, and survived mostly on pap. He beat that illness, returning to the screen to the absolute joy of his massive fanbase. Nigerians are now praying he can pull off another miracle.

Ogogo has been in this Nollywood thing for over forty years. The man is a national treasure, full stop. If you know any specialist, a cancer treatment centre that hasn’t given up, or even a doctor or traditional healer who might be able to take this on, now is the time to speak up.

Reach out straight to his daughters on social media. One message or one share could be the thing that saves him. Sometimes, one share is all it takes to connect a family with the exact person who has the solution.  Taiwo Hassan

Do you know any specialist, hospital, or organisation that can handle stage 4 cancer cases? Please tag them in the comments or reach out to the family’s social media pages directly. Keep sharing this until it reaches the right hands.  Taiwo Hassan
