Nigerians react to viral video of frontline soldiers soaking bread stream water before eating
A viral video showing Nigerian soldiers on the front line soaking bread in stream water before eating has sparked reactions on social media, with Nigerians questioning the welfare and feeding arrangements for military personnel serving in difficult conditions.
The video, which has been circulating online, shows the Nigerian soldiers dipping bread into water from a stream before eating.
The footage has now triggered concerns about the conditions under which troops operate and whether they really have adequate access to food and other essential supplies while carrying out their duties. Nigerian soldiers.
Reactions trails Nigerian Soldiers video
Reacting to the video, an X user, @EugeneChuks_1, called attention to the responsibility of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST), writing:
“The Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) is the department of the Army responsible for the distribution of food and essential supplies to frontline soldiers. Nigerians should hold them responsible for this kind of shit.”
Another user, @U9R107494, criticised commentator Solomon Buchi for allegedly failing to address the situation, writing:
“That goat Solomon Buchi no go see this one.”
Similarly, @Asah_Mike linked the incident to discussions about military recruitment, arguing that the welfare of serving personnel should be addressed before more Nigerians are encouraged to enlist.
“Before asking Nigerians to pick up form, these issues must be addressed. No be life be this,” the user wrote.
Expressing sadness over the footage, @am_mrjosh said:
“This is heart recking to watch.”
Other Nigerians reacted with sarcasm and frustration, with @justicetsunami writing, “Giant of Africa,” while @devinkate33 simply responded, “Damn it.”
Meanwhile, @InyangJohnpaul1 offered a prayer for the soldiers, saying:
“God protect them.”
Another X user, @darlingt…, questioned the appeal of military service in light of the footage, writing: “Na this same military them say make we enlist?”

Meanwhile, in another news reported by Newsflashngr, the Nigerian Army has deployed 87 newly trained soldiers to boost security operations across Operation FANSAN YAMMA. The troops, all members of the 90 Regular Intake, graduated after completing Exercise Shining Star X/26 at the 1 Division Training School, Dalet Barracks, Kawo, Kaduna.
The graduation ceremony held on Friday. Special Guest of Honour was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase. He was represented by the Chief of Staff, 1 Division, Brigadier General TM Opurum.
Brigadier General Opurum said Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, personally approved the training. The goal is simple. Strengthen Army formations, sharpen operational readiness and build resilience, teamwork and professionalism among troops heading into active theatres.
These 87 soldiers now head straight into the various theatres of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the joint military operation battling terrorism and banditry across Nigeria’s North West. The timing matters. Troops under the same operation have spent recent days on the offensive in Kaduna and Katsina states, rescuing kidnap victims and recovering weapons from armed groups.
The Nigerian Army has been steadily rotating fresh manpower into that operation as pressure on troops in the North West keeps climbing. Every new intake means more boots on ground for a force already stretched thin across multiple flashpoints.
No timeline has been given for how long this batch will serve in the theatre, and the Army has not disclosed which specific locations within Operation FANSAN YAMMA will receive them first. Continue reading here.
