“Obi Kererenke No Longer Exists”: Wike Boasts Ahead of 2027 Election

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has declared Peter Obi’s political momentum from the 2023 election dead ahead of 2027.

Wike boasted that he had killed the movement, insisting that Obi could not reproduce his previous electoral performance.

His remarks was made while addressing journalists on November 5, 2026.

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom has taken another swipe at former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, declaring that the political movement that powered his 2023 election performance no longer exists.

Minister Nyesom made the remarks while speaking with journalists on Wednesday, November 5, expressing confidence that Obi and other opposition figures would struggle to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

Wike says Obi’s political movement is dead

During the interaction, the minister dismissed suggestions that Obi could recreate the political excitement and support he enjoyed during the 2023 presidential election

He described the former Anambra State governor as a political dramatist and questioned what he had to offer Nigerians ahead of another presidential contest.

Wike also made a bold declaration about the movement associated with Obi’s political campaign, suggesting that its influence had disappeared.

“All these so-called ‘Obi Kererenke’; it does not exist again. I have killed it.”

The minister further argued that opposition politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, lacked the political strength to prevent the APC from maintaining its position in 2027

His comments reflect his confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects, as he continues to support the president despite belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike defends FCT billboard charges

Beyond his comments about the opposition, Wike also defended the high charges imposed on billboards in the FCT.

He reportedly argued that the revenue generated from the charges would help the government finance infrastructure projects, including roads and schools.

The minister’s comments come amid political discussions over the 2027 elections and growing attention on the opposition’s efforts to build a united platform capable of challenging the APC.
