Rev Mosy Madugba alleges Obasanjo gave oil wells to Oyedepo, Adeboye and Kumuyi, linking them to their wealth and institutions.
Something Reverend Mosy Madugba said about Obasanjo and three of Nigeria’s biggest pastors is getting attention.
He claims the former president gave oil wells to Bishop David Oyedepo, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Pastor William Kumuyi. According to him, those oil wells explain the wealth, private jets and big institutions associated with the three pastors.
He made the claim in these words:
“Obasanjo gave Oyedepo, Adeboye and Kumuyi oil wells, that’s why they have private jets, Universities, big hospitals and schools all over Nigeria.” Rev Mosy Madugba
The statement has attracted attention because of the size of the religious organisations and institutions linked to the three pastors. Over the years, these churches have grown far beyond their original religious activities. Some of these ministries have gone beyond preaching, with education now forming part of their activities. They have established schools and universities over the years.
Oyedepo is the man behind Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly called Winners’ Chapel. The church is also linked to Covenant University and Landmark University.

Adeboye is the General Overseer of RCCG, while Kumuyi established Deeper Christian Life Ministry. But the big question remains: is there anything to show that Obasanjo really gave these pastors oil wells?
So far, the information accompanying Madugba’s statement does not provide details of the alleged allocations. There are no oil well locations, dates or official documents confirming that the former president made such gifts to the three religious leaders.
From 1999 to 2007, Obasanjo was at the helm of affairs in Nigeria. His time as president also brought him into contact with some of the country’s prominent pastors and religious figures. Reports also documented meetings involving him, Adeboye and Oyedepo. However, those meetings alone do not prove that any oil wells were given to them. Rev Mosy Madugba
