Peter Obi Fires Back at Tinubu Over Kaduna Campaign, Says ‘He Must Go Home’

Peter Obi has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his remarks during the APC’s 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna.

Obi accused Tinubu of blaming the opposition for poverty instead of explaining how his administration has handled borrowed funds.

The exchange has drawn attention to Nigeria’s economy and the 2027 presidential election.

Peter Obi criticises Tinubu over Kaduna campaign

The former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticised President Bola Tinubu following his campaign speech in Kaduna, where the President asked Nigerians to give him another four years in office in 2027.

Obi accused the president of shifting responsibility for Nigeria’s economic hardship to the opposition instead of addressing concerns about borrowing, poverty and his administration’s performance.

The criticism adds to the growing political debate over the economy as parties prepare for the 2027 presidential election.

Obi questions Tinubu’s record after Kaduna campaign

Obi reportedly made the remarks on Monday, October 26, at an event in Abuja organised by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to inaugurate its national campaign council.

The former Anambra State governor took issue with Tinubu’s decision to begin his re-election campaign while Nigerians continue to face economic difficulties. He questioned what the President had achieved with funds borrowed by his administration

Obi also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of failing to address the country’s major challenges, including poverty, corruption and unemployment.

He said: “Tinubu did his campaign in Kaduna and instead of him to explain to Nigerians what he did with all the billions he borrowed, he chose to blame the opposition for the poverty he created. Tinubu does not have the energy to solve Nigerian problems, he Must Go Home!”

Obi’s remarks reflect his call for a change of leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.

What Tinubu said during his Kaduna campaign

The president launched the APC’s presidential campaign in Kaduna on Saturday, October 24, asking Nigerians to support him for another four years in office.

Newsflashngr reported that the President defended his administration’s economic reforms and blamed previous governments for some of the economic problems facing the country. He argued that his government inherited longstanding challenges and was taking steps to address them.

During the campaign, the president also urged eligible Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2027 election.

His comments about hunger and poverty became a point of political disagreement, with Obi arguing that the President should focus on explaining his administration’s performance rather than blaming the opposition.

Obi calls for a different approach to governance

Obi has argued that Nigeria needs leadership focused on solving problems rather than blaming political opponents.

He has also identified corruption as a major challenge holding the country back and said it should be tackled directly.

The NDC presidential candidate further argued that Nigerians need leadership capable of responding to the country’s economic and social challenges.
