“Declare Obidients Terror!sts If I Were Tinubu” — Man Declares, Faces Backlash

A statement by social media personality KayHikersClub, calling on President Bola Tinubu to declare supporters of Peter Obi, popularly known as Obidients, a terrorist group, has triggered reactions on X, with users pushing back against the remarks and raising questions about political violence, freedom of expression and Nigeria’s political divisions.

KayHikersClub made the controversial statement while criticising the online conduct of Obidients, accusing them of threatening and insulting people who hold different political opinions.

“The Most V!olent People On The Internet Right Now Are The Obidients,” the commentator said.

“If I Were President Tinubu, I Would Declare The Obidients a Terror!st Group In Nigeria.

“They Will Insult And Threaten You Just For Having a Different Political Opinion.

“If Peter Obi Ever Gets Into Power, He Will Be Worse Than a Tyrant.”

The statement has generated criticism from several X users, some of whom challenged the commentator’s position and pointed to allegations of political violence involving supporters of other political parties.

Reacting to the post, @Kwekwe001 and @ndukwe_ume96970 made a claim about a Canadian court and the All Progressives Congress (APC), writing:

“Seems this one did not know that a court in Canada has already declared APC a terrorist organisation.”

The claim about the Canadian court was not independently verified for this report.

Similarly, @Drad_nahtan and @MitchOnye warned against what they described as an attempt to mislead Nigerians about political groups.

“If Nigerians like make them allow dimwits gaslight them,” they wrote.

Another user, @CREATOR and @IsCreatorworld, challenged the commentator to consider allegations of violence involving APC supporters.

“May be he has forgotten about this woman that was stab by apc thugs,” the user said.

@Miracle_Of_God and @Baddo360 also questioned the criticism of Obidients, referencing allegations of violence against people who did not support the APC during elections in Lagos.

“Fat clowns as usual,,, what do you call MC oluomo and the APC miscreants that massacred people in Lagos because they didn’t vote APC ?” the user wrote.

Meanwhile, @Xparte and @your_Favxparte dismissed the remarks, responding:

“With due respect to y’all in the club ‘get out of here!’”

Meanwhile, A former INEC staff warns Peter obi to train and equip the New Democratic Congress agents (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general election.

A former Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) staff ad hoc staff member has urged Peter Obi and the New Democratic Congress (NDC) to prioritise the training and proper equipping of polling unit agents ahead of the 2027 general election, citing alleged lapses observed during the 2023 elections.

The former INEC staff member, in a message directed at Obi and the party’s leadership, recounted how the Labour Party’s polling unit agent was allegedly ill-equipped and failed to accompany electoral officials to the council-level collation centre during the 2023 general election.

According to the former INEC staff, the experience highlighted the need for political parties to prepare their agents to monitor every stage of the electoral process and safeguard their votes.

“I want to point out some issues that occurred during the 2023 general election,” the former INEC ad hoc staff member said.

“Now the then Labour Party agent was not well equipped. When I say well equipped, the guy—at the time they were even mocking him, not even get money to chop, you know that kind of a thing—and was not looking like he had confidence in what he was doing, even though the NDC then won in our polling units. But the agent was not well equipped.” continue reading here.
