Nigerian content creator Jarvis has clarified her husband’s financial responsibilities to her family amid the ongoing controversy surrounding her relationship with fellow streamer Peller, insisting that her husband is responsible for her and their baby, not her relatives.
In a statement circulating online, Jarvis explained that she deliberately maintains boundaries between her family and her husband, stressing that she does not want her relatives to depend on him for their needs.
“Secondly, I take care of my family. I just want that to be clear. My husband is not responsible for my family. God forbid, I’ll never let that kind of thing happen,” she said.

Explaining why she rarely allows her family members to contact or disturb her husband, Jarvis added:
“Which is why I don’t even allow any of my family members to talk to my husband, or even call or disturb him. Grandma always asks for him. I’m like, ‘Oh, he’s fine, he’s okay.’ And if he’s by my side, he would say hi to Grandma. Simple.”
She further emphasised that her husband’s primary responsibility is to their immediate family.
“No. His responsibility is me and baby. Done. Even my own family know that,” she stated.
Jarvis also explained that marriage had changed how she prioritised her finances, noting that she now does only a little for her relatives because she has her own household to manage.
“The reason I got married is my own family now more concerned because I’m married. One man. I only do little for them. I don’t keep myself anymore,” she said.
Reiterating her position, the content creator insisted that her husband should not be expected to provide for her relatives.
“So please, my husband is not responsible for my family. That should be clear. I want it to be clear,” she added.
Addressing the issue of a phone reportedly purchased for her sister, Jarvis clarified that she had asked her husband to help buy it because she was not in Nigeria and had been promising her sister a phone for a long time.
“He’s not the one I got my sister a phone. I only told him, ‘Help me get my sister a phone,’ because I’m not in Nigeria. I’ve been promising her a phone for too long. And he helped me to get it for her. Please.”
Her comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with Nigerians divided over whether a married person’s spouse should be expected to support their extended family.
Nigerians React to Jarvis ’ Statement
The statement has generated different opinions, with some social media users questioning the long-term prospects of Jarvis and Peller’s relationship, while others praised her for setting boundaries and defending her position.
Reacting to the controversy, X user @king_movic_offi wrote:
“Make e no be like say person dey swear and I’m not but chance of them be together for long is kind of slim still wish them well sha.”
Another user, @JoeJoe1759, expressed concern about the relationship, alleging that Jarvis was not appreciating Peller’s sacrifices.
“Waiting remain for Jarvis to say to this boy na ‘WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME.’ Peller, I wish all this drama is content, not reality. Jarvis is manipulating u and she doesn’t respect you and all you have sacrificed for her. I know u re younger than her and she is using that against u.”
However, not everyone criticised Jarvis. X user @DralliSamuel praised her approach, writing:
“One thing i like about Jarvis is that she is very wise …”
Meanwhile, @ace44t argued that people should appreciate even small acts of kindness, regardless of their relationship with the person offering help.
“The pride she has is that ‘shd guide.’ So Peller taking care of her family is like nothing to her. Forget guide matter, any little thing wey person do for u, learn to appreciate. Don’t say because you’re older sister wey Dem buy phone for wey no de greet her helper.”
Another user, @sylvermerchant, questioned why a husband supporting his wife’s relatives should be viewed negatively, referencing African cultural values.
“What’s bad in your husband taking care of your relations? We are Africans and we need to live like Africans, the people you want to emulate don’t have higher marriage success rate than Africans.”
In contrast, @NewAreahqs defended Jarvis, suggesting that her clarification was necessary given how Nigerians might interpret the situation.
“It’s good she’s defending her self cause I know Nigerians … kudos girl.”
