A video showing some youths shouting “We don’t want you” at Atiku Abubakar and his campaign team has surfaced online.
The footage emerged shortly after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate flagged off his 2027 campaign in Sokoto State.
The video has triggered mixed reactions on X, with some users questioning whether the rejection was genuine or politically sponsored.
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has become the subject of online debate after a video showing some youths allegedly rejecting him surfaced following his presidential campaign rally in Sokoto State.
The footage, which has attracted reactions on X, emerged barely hours after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate officially launched his campaign in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
What happened after Atiku’s Sokoto campaign rally?
Atiku flagged off his presidential campaign in Sokoto on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as the ADC began its campaign activities in the state.
The former vice-president arrived at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport at about 1pm, accompanied by members of his campaign team and other party leaders.
He was received by prominent political figures, including his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal.
The campaign rally, held at the party’s state secretariat along Ilorin Road, attracted a large crowd of supporters who gathered to welcome the former presidential candidate.
However, an X user later shared a video purportedly showing some youths shouting at Atiku and members of his campaign team.
In the footage, the youths could be heard chanting:
“We don’t want you.”
The video was presented as a rejection of Atiku and his political ambition, although the circumstances surrounding the footage and the identities of those involved were not independently established.
X users question video as reactions pour in
The development has generated different opinions, with some social media users suggesting that the incident could have been politically arranged.
Others described the footage as embarrassing for the former vice-president, while some argued that political candidates should expect opposition from people who support other parties.
One user, Debido, questioned the reported cost of producing campaign materials, while Sadiqbabakabdullahi suggested that those involved might have been paid to participate.
Another user argued that the incident reflected the reality of political competition, saying not everybody would support the same candidate.
Meanwhile, the hashtag #ArewaForAsiwaju also featured in the discussion, with some users expressing support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
