Nigerian comedian and content creator Anti Abiba has shared the painful circumstances surrounding her brother’s death, revealing that her family could no longer afford his hospital treatment. In a heartbreaking social media post, she said he died three hours after they took him home, raising fresh concerns about the financial challenges many Nigerian families face when seeking medical care.
Her account has drawn sympathy from social media users, with some questioning the state of healthcare in the country.
Anti Abiba recounts brother’s final hours
Anti Abiba explained that her family exhausted its savings and borrowed money while trying to save her brother. However, their financial situation eventually made it impossible to continue paying for his hospital treatment.
According to the content creator, the family had no choice but to take him home after running out of funds. She said he died just three hours later.
“We couldn’t even afford to buy him a few more days of treatment. We had to take him home, and now he’s gone.”
The comedian’s account highlights the distressing situation her family faced as it struggled to afford continued medical care for a loved one.
“What is the value of human life in this country?”
Following the loss, Anti Abiba questioned the circumstances that can leave families unable to pay for life-saving treatment.
She argued that poverty was increasingly affecting people’s chances of survival in Nigeria, adding that access to continued treatment should not become a privilege reserved for those who can afford it.
The comedian also expressed concern about families going into debt to pay medical bills while public attention shifts to the next election.
“Who will speak for the average Nigerians?” she asked, drawing attention to families struggling to keep their loved ones alive.
She called for greater attention to the challenges facing ordinary citizens, insisting that the situation should not be treated as though everything is normal.
