Meanwhile, Peter Obi $155 million confirmation from Alex Otti is back in the news — the Abia governor reveals his role as Diamond Bank CEO in the historic handover.
Abia Governor Alex Otti woke up this morning and confirmed it again — Peter Obi left $155 million for Anambra State on his way out of office. And Otti did not just say he knows about it. He said he was directly involved, that he was Diamond Bank CEO when it happened and that it was his advice that led Obi to leave the money in dollars rather than naira.
People have heard this story before. But Otti has a way of telling it that makes it feel current every single time.
Because he does not tell it from the outside. He tells it from inside the room where the decision was made. He was sitting there. He was the banker. He was the one giving the advice. That is not a secondhand account and he wants you to understand the difference.
His words were direct. Peter Obi left $155 million. He said he can attest to that. And then he added a detail that most versions of this story leave out — Obi initially wanted to leave the money in naira. It was Otti himself, sitting in his position as Diamond Bank CEO at the time, who advised him to keep it in dollars instead.
That one detail matters more than it might seem on the surface.
Because it means the decision to preserve that money in a currency that would hold its value against inflation and exchange rate fluctuations was not just Peter Obi acting alone. Continue reading here.
