Moji Afolayan explains why she rejects polygamous marriage
Afolayan shared her position during an interview with African A-List, where she discussed her childhood experiences and how they influenced her approach to marriage.
According to the actress, growing up in a home where her father had multiple wives exposed her to situations she would not want another woman to experience.
She explained that although she eventually married a man who had been married before, his situation was different because his first wife had died before their marriage
The actress made it clear that she would not have willingly entered a marriage where her husband intended to bring in another wife.
She said:
“I grew up in a polygamous home, so I know what I experienced. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.”
Actress speaks about her husband and online critics
Afolayan also addressed people who interfere in other people’s marriages, particularly social media users she described as online in-laws.
She argued that outsiders often make comments about marriages without understanding what the couples involved are experiencing behind closed doors.
The actress further explained that she and her husband entered their marriage without either party having extraordinary financial resources.
She maintained that her position against polygamy was something she had expressed even before getting married
According to her, she believes that how a man treats his wife can influence the kind of response he receives in return.
