“I Still Won’t Vote for Tinubu in 2027”: Northern Man Displays Two Bags of Rice and Beans Gifted by APC Supporter

A northern Nigerian man has appreciated a supporter of President Bola Tinubu for giving him two bags of rice and beans.

Despite receiving the food items, the man declared that he would not vote for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

His statement, shared alongside a display of the food items, has generated mixed reactions on social media, with Nigerians debating political handouts and voters’ choices.

A northern Nigerian man has stirred reactions online after revealing that he received two bags of rice and beans from a supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but would still not vote for the president in 2027.

The man expressed appreciation for the food items but made it clear that receiving the gifts would not determine his choice at the ballot box.

Man appreciates Tinubu supporter but declares 2027 voting decision

In a video circulating on social media, the man displayed the two bags of food he reportedly received from a supporter of the president.

While appreciating the gesture, he insisted that he would make his political decision based on who he considered the right candidate rather than the gifts he had received.

He said:

“One of President Tinubu’s supporters gave me two bags of rice and beans. I really appreciate him, but I won’t vote for Tinubu in the 2027 election. I will vote for the right candidate.”

His statement has drawn attention because it highlights the difference between accepting assistance from a politician’s supporter and deciding who deserves one’s vote.

Nigerians react to man’s decision

The video has generated different opinions, with some social media users supporting the man’s position and others commenting on the distribution of food items ahead of the next election.

Saint Vincent (@Edvinng) supported his approach, writing:

” Lol this is the kind of energy we need. Collect their bribes and still vote the candidate of your choice. No more vote buying in this 2027 election.”

GuruBeastMedia (@JVeeBrand) criticised the use of food distribution, saying:

“Instead of creating jobs, they’re giving handouts 😭😭”

Meanwhile, BigMan’sWife (@PatraPatien…) joked about how long the food could last, writing:

“Make he chop that two bags of rice from now till 2030”

Mitchell (@mitchellamros) disagreed with the man’s decision to accept the items, arguing that he should not have collected them if he did not intend to support Tinubu.

Ada4real (@Adathebeloved), however, backed the acceptance of the food items, saying:

“That’s it. Everyone should collect. It is our money”

Debate over political gifts ahead of 2027

Other commenters also used the development to criticise the government and question the practice of distributing food items instead of creating employment opportunities.

Prince Newman (@PrinceN11814415) described the situation as an attempt to influence Nigerians’ future through handouts, while another commenter, Chineme, argued that Nigerians should accept the rice and beans because public funds were allegedly used to purchase them.
