She was born Mercy Johnson Ozioma and comes from a very large family of seven children. Her parents are Daniel Johnson, a military man, and Elizabeth Johnson.
(Her mother passed on in May 2018) Mercy is the middle child with three older sisters and three younger brothers.
Her elder sisters taught her to take care of her family and do house chores while her brothers made her a tomboy who enjoyed games and activities that are traditionally designed for boys.
Her siblings are not public figures and they stay away from the spotlight and the actress does her best to protect their privacy

Mercy wed her husband Prince Odianosen Okojie, popularly known as Odi in 2011. Their wedding ceremony was held at Christ Embassy, Oregun, Ikeja, following a traditional marriage on 26th August at Iyana Iba Lagos.
